Orlando mayor delivers 'State of Downtown' address

Mayor Dyer spoke about new developments in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Mayor Buddy Dyer delivered his annual "State of Downtown" address Tuesday afternoon.

The mayor spoke for 90 minutes at the Bob Carr Theater.

Dyer was expected to give his speech in October, but the address was delayed because of Hurricane Matthew.

Dyer spoke on several developments, including a new school in Parramore neighborhood and a new headquarters for Orlando Police Department and the new downtown campus for the University of Central Florida expected to open in 2019.

One development includes the new developments at Camping World Stadium. The city will be hosting three college football bowl games, as well as the National Football League's Pro Bowl.

"We've long dreamed of being one of America's premier sports destinations. When our city hosts a big game, you can feel the electricity," Dyer said.
