Orlando police officer shoots pit bull during attack

Officer treated for bite wounds, injuries

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando police officer headed to a disturbance was attacked by two dogs, one of which he shot.

The shooting happened Monday in the 2300 block of Grand Central Parkway at the Estates at Park Central Apartments.

According to Orlando police, an officer was attacked by the dogs, described as pit bulls, and suffered bite wounds and scratches.  Police said the officer was forced to shoot and struck one of the dogs.  The other animal ran away, police said.

The officer was treated for his injuries, and the dog that was shot was taken to an animal hospital.

No other details were released.
