4 arrested after Orlando SWAT team surrounds neighborhood

Group wanted in armed robbery on International Drive

ORLANDO, Fla. – Four men were taken into custody Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery that led to a SWAT team surrounding an Orlando neighborhood.

According to Orlando police, a woman was robbed at gunpoint around 1:50 a.m. by four people in the 6300 block of International Drive. The victim was not injured.

An Orange County sheriff's deputy spotted the group jumping a fence and getting into a car, which ended up in the 1100 block of Cypress Street near Orange Blossom Trail, police said. Officials said the car was stolen.

The OPD SWAT team was called to the area, and the neighborhood was surrounded.

"Stay out of (the) area," Orlando police tweeted early Wednesday.

The group later surrendered and was arrested, police said. It's not yet known what charges they face.

"Thanks to the Orange County Sheriff's Office for spotting suspects fleeing I-Drive in stolen car and for getting chopper in the air to follow the car," OPD tweeted.

A woman inside the home was interviewed and a child was taken into protective custody. Officials initially said the woman was taken into custody.

The search did not affect nearby Jones High School, according to police.
