Orlando woman thrown from car hood in DUI crash
Man refused to stop as girlfriend grasped hood, troopers say
A woman was thrown from the hood of a car and injured after witnesses say she tried to stop her boyfriend from driving drunk.
Emergency crews responded to the Vista Centre Shoppes early Wednesday after a blue Ford Mustang crashed into a light pole.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a woman and her boyfriend got into an argument in the parking lot, which resulted in the woman jumping on the hood of the man's car as he drove off.
Troopers said the driver refused to stop as he drove through the parking lot with his girlfriend still clinging to the hood of the Mustang.
At some point the man lost control of his car and crashed into a light pole, injuring his girlfriend, according to the FHP.
After the crash, the man was given a field sobriety test and arrested for suspicion of DUI, according to troopers.
The woman was taken to the hospital, her condition is not known.
