Burglary suspect sneaks into homes as victims sleep, deputies say

David Houston charged with 7 occupied burglaries

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A man who was released  from state prison in November after serving time for an occupied burglary conviction was arrested again Monday after he broke into seven Osceola County homes, deputies said.

David Houston, 36, sneaked into rental homes while the residents were asleep and took cash and jewelry, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

"He would only enter homes that were unlocked," Captain Jacob Ruiz said. "It's terrifying to think that somebody invaded your privacy and entered your home where you and your family are."

Houston is charged with seven occupied burglaries, most of which were reported in the Windsor Hills and Encantada neighborhoods west of I-4, deputies said.

Deanna Quinn, the president of Windsor Hills Master Community Association Inc., told News 6 via email that, "This is the first time in over three years that Windsor Hills has had an incident as we do take security very seriously."

Deputies said Houston might have been involved in additional burglaries in Central Florida and asked anyone with information to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

"We're asking the public to please take a good look at him. If you have any information on cases that he may be related to, if he looks familiar to you, please contact the Sheriff's Office so we can look into that," Ruiz said.

Tipsters can contact the Sheriff's Office via Facebook or Twitter.
