Osecola deputy fired after shooting agency gun while drunk

Investigation results in 2 charges for Deputy Michael Carr

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A Osceola County deputy has been fired after an investigation found he shot off his agency-issued gun while he was drunk.

Michael Carr's employment was officially terminated on Thursday after the June 23 incident, where deputies say Carr fired shots in the area of Running Horse Trail in St. Cloud.

Carr, 26, was intoxicated and off-duty when he shot the gun, according to the release. He has been charged with discharging a firearm in public and discharging a firearm while intoxicated.

An internal investigation also found Carr violated three policies: Conformance to Laws, Conduct Unbecoming and Use of Weapons, which ultimately led to his termination, according to a release.

The state attorney's office is reviewing the case.
