Pair accused of giving man, 72, medicine before he went into coma

Deputies said an investigation began in June when deputies took a report from the man, who is unable to walk, and his wife. The victim told deputies he and his wife were first contacted by Gonzalez and Paz after seeing a Craigslist advertisement for a dog.

The couple later met the couple at a dog show and soon become friends, according to deputies.

The sheriff's office said Gonzalez and Paz offered to assist the man with Humira injections for his arthritis, and he initially responded well to the treatments. Soon after, however, the man was diagnosed with a blood infection and went into a stroke-like coma, which doctors indicated might have been caused by the Humira injections.

Detectives contacted Gonzalez and Paz, but they refused to cooperate with the investigation, officials said. They were arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail.
