Police say a Palm Bay man appeared to have ingested marijuana to avoid being arrested.
Early Monday morning, Palm Bay police officers investigated a car parked behind a RaceTrac gas station on Babcock Road that smelled of unburned marijuana, according to police reports.
As the officers approached the vehicle, they spotted passenger Aaron Wolfe, 18, drinking from a can of juice as fast as he could, swishing it around in his mouth and taking large gulps. He had a plastic bag in his lap that officers said appeared to have been torn open.
Police then conducted a search of Wolfe and driver Thomas Webber, also 18. Police reports indicate that they found empty zip lock bags, a scale, a marijuana grinder and a canister full of cannabis.
Police then arrested Wolfe and Webber for possession of cannabis with intent to sell and possession of paraphernalia.
As officers drove the men to the station, Webber's phone rang repeatedly, and each time he asked the officers who was calling. At one point he received a text message and asked the officers who it was from. When they looked at his phone to tell him, they read a text message from someone wanting to buy marijuana.
Wolfe and Webber were taken to Brevard County jail.
