The prospective student was taken into custody, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported.

"The 18-year-old resisted to the point where he punched and kicked the officer. They had to use the Taser to subdue him," said Yvonne Martinez, spokeswoman for the Palm Bay Police Department.

The school was not placed on lockdown and no other students were affected, school officials reported.

The unidentified man was not a student at the school, officials added.

The officer, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Palm Bay Hospital for further medical treatment of his injuries.

Charges are pending against the man.
