Palm Coast man charged with battery at Central Florida daycare center
Police arrest George Fredericks after responding to attempted child abduction call
A Palm Coast man was arrested Wednesday on battery charges after police responded to a possible attempted child abduction at a daycare center in Bunnell.
Bunnel police were dispatched to a daycare center on North Chapel Street after receiving reports that a man in a gold or brown four-door sedan with a taxi sign on it had picked up some children.
Officers located George Fredericks, 63, of Palm Coast, who matched a description given to them by victims at the scene, according to an arrest report.
Fredericks was not charged with any crimes related to child abduction, but he did confirm that he touched and shook the victim whom he wanted to scare "in order to teach him a lesson" after the child allegedly made a rude gesture to him, the report states.
Police said that, based on testimony given from Fredericks and the victim, there is probable cause to believe that Fredericks intentionally touched the child against the victim's will.
Fredericks was arrested and taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility.
