TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The state senator who helped create Florida's controversial "Stand Your Ground" law says he's open to some revisions.
Senator David Simmons said he has brought revisions to the law last fall, but said he will try again and believes they'll be more likely to happen now because of the aftermath of the George Zimmerman verdict.

Simmons was one of several panelists who spoke to hundreds of people Wednesday night during a debate about the law at FAMU.
"Stand Your Ground" has come under fire following the George Zimmerman trial, even though it wasn't directly used as his defense.
Many said they want the law changed or even repealed, while others say they see the chance to learn from it.
Vadohl Smith, 14, told the panel he believes its a good law, but needs to be used as it was intended.
"I feel like it was important to come because as a boy my age I could learn and grow from this experience, because Trayvon Martin was a teen like me and it could help me in the future," said Smith.
