COCOA BEACH, Fla. – At Thursday's Cocoa Beach city commission meeting, a man will try to convince commissioners to allow him to start a party bike operation in Cocoa Beach, Local 6 news partner Florida Today reports.
A party bike is an open-air vehicle powered by about a dozen patrons who pedal and sometimes consume adult beverages. Party bikes are typically staffed by a sober driver and bartender.
City staff discouraged a similar inquiry in April because the party bikes, which travel at about 10 mph, would not be allowed to operate on State Roads A1A or 520 and the venture was contrary to the city's goal of being a family-oriented resort community
