ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -

A pedestrian was hit and killed Tuesday night by a sport utility vehicle in Orange County.

The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. at Semoran Boulevard and Century 21 Boulevard, near Colonial Drive.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 54-year-old Tampa man was crossing the southbound lanes of Semoran but wasn't in a crosswalk.  A SUV driven by a 20-year-old Orlando man struck the pedestrian, who walked directly into the vehicle's path, the FHP said.

A woman who was walking with the man was not injured.  The driver was also not hurt.

An investigation is ongoing.
