Pedestrian struck, killed by train in Central Florida

28-year-old dies in Seville crash

SEVILLE, Fla. – A pedestrian struck and killed Sunday night by a train in Volusia County has been identified.

Marino Avillaneda, 28, of Seville, was killed in the crash, which occurred Sunday night at U.S. Highway 17 and Bunnell Road near Lake George in Seville, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Avillaneda was walking westbound on Lake George Road and tried to cross the tracks, disregarding a lowered crossing gate, when he was struck.

Avillaneda was pronounced dead at the scene.

The FHP continues to investigate.
