Pedestrian struck, killed on Highway 50 identified

CLERMONT, Fla. - Authorities have identified the woman killed in a fatal pedestrian crash on Wednesday night.

According to police, the pedestrian was crossing Highway 50 near the intersection of Anderson Street at approximately 8:50 p.m. when she was struck by a newer model SUV.

The woman, identified as 62-year-old Cherokee Moore of Clermont, was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police said she was not walking in a crosswalk.

It is unclear at this point whether speed was a factor, but the Clermont Police Department continue to investigate.
