Plane with cracked windshield lands at Orlando International Airport

American Airlines 757 on its way from Miami to Boston when window cracks

ORLANDO, Fla. - An American Airlines flight made an unscheduled landing at Orlando International Airport late Tuesday night after the plane's windshield cracked in mid-flight.

Flight 160 was on its way from Miami to Boston when the pilot's double-paned windshield cracked.  It is unknown what caused the crack.

There were more than 150 people aboard the Boeing 757, but no one was injured.

Airline spokeswoman Andrea Huguely said a cracked windshield "doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen on occasion."

Passengers were placed on other flights to get to their destinations.

The aircraft was pulled out of service for repairs.

An investigation into the incident has been launched, but officials don't believe it was caused by a bird strike because of the altitude of the plane when the crack occurred.
