ORLANDO, Fla. – Pole dancing has become a fitness craze, but some want it to become an Olympic sport.
The International Pole Sports Federation recently hosted a world championship in London, and the group has drawn up an official rule book in hopes of becoming the next Olympic sport.
"There's a level of dedication and training you have to put into it to get anywhere. It's a type of gymnastics, but it's a vertical apparatus," pole dancing instructor Samantha Huffman said.
The International Olympic Committee says, however, that a sport has to be widely practiced around the world to be considered an addition to the games, making pole dancing a longshot.
