Police say an ex-worker and a woman just released from prison were the ones who robbed a 7-Eleven in Apopka.
Keyon Hardy, 25. and Lashawna Tomar, 35, were taken to the Orange County jail early Wednesday morning.
Apopka police say early Sunday morning, Hardy and Tomar robbed the 7-Eleven at 1439 W. Orange Blossom Trail, just west of the State Road 451 ramp.
According to Apopka police Sgt. Ed Chittenden, Hardy and Tomar walked into the store with their faces covered and pointed a gun at the clerk. The robbers forced her to open the safe and then brought her to the bathroom, telling her they would kill her if she came out, according to Chittenden.
Police say the two robbers were caught thanks to a combination of witness statements, surveillance video and an anonymous tip.
While looking into the two suspects, officers noticed a distinct connection to the store.
"[Hardy] was an ex-employee there recently just let go," said Chittenden. "[Tomar] just did 12 years in prison for armed robbery. She is obviously a career criminal. It was just another day at the office for her."
Both Hardy and Tomar are charged with robbery with a firearm, according to Orange County jail records.
