PORT ORANGE, Fla. – Port Orange Police say an 8-year-old girl was hit by a driver while riding her bike to school.
The accident happened around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Spruce Creek Road and Millbrook Avenue.

Police say 33-year-old Brandy Rose of Port Orange hit the child, who was attempting to cross the street. The girl was ejected off her bike and pinned under the right part of the 2002 Ford Sport Track, according to police.
The girl was flown to Halifax Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say the driver was cited for failing to stop or yield at an intersection.
