Sanford home swarmed over 'swatting' call

Situation determined to be unfounded

SANFORD, Fla. – Sanford police are investigating an apparent case of "swatting' that sent police swarming around a home Thursday night.

The incident started when someone called 911, claiming there was a hostage standoff happening at a home near Celery Avenue and Sanford Avenue.

Police arrived in full force and blocked off the whole area only to discover it was a hoax.

Investigators said no one was hurt and that no one inside the home called 911.

Police are now working to figure out who made the bogus call.
