Police investigate fatal stabbing in Orlando

17-year-old stabbed to death, police say

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police said they aren't searching for a suspect and are questioning people in a stabbing that killed a 17-year-old boy on Thursday afternoon.

Police said they found the victim in a home on Ira Street, located near Azalea Elementary School, just after noon on Thursday with stab wounds. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died.

Orlando police said family members were home at the time of the stabbing and that a disturbance occurred. They believe the incident was family-related.

"OPD has responded to this residence before, don't have the details, but this house was familiar to us," said Sgt. Jim Young.

Neighbors tell Local 6 they've seen the police at the residence a lot.

"They continuously fought. I don't know if they fought amongst themselves, or when people came over," said Pat Criddle, neighborhood watch coordinator. "The way I understand it one was a good one and one was a bad one."

Obe Lopez tells Local 6 he mentored the victim.

"When I became and adult, they let me have a room here, we started working together, working on GEDs, everything was going fine," Lopez told Local 6. "I saw him get into bad into altercations, people who said were friends, weren't treating them like friends. They were getting into trouble. Friends wouldn't get another friend into trouble."
