DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -

Daytona Beach police said they arrested a man who is considered a person of interest in several central Florida arson fires.

Police arrested Steven Angle for a violation of probation warrant that came out of Georgia.

Police said around 12:07 p.m. detectives found him in the 600 block of Oleander Avenue.

Police said when Angle saw them he ran away and went into the Maui Nix store at 635 North Atlantic Ave.

An employee told Local 6 he noticed Angle as he ran in looking suspicious, sweating, and trying to buy hats and shirts to possibly conceal himself.

The employee said he went outside, and saw police along the street and asked if they were looking for someone.

When police showed the employee a picture of Angle, he positively identified him as the man inside the store.

Police said Angle went to the second floor and threatened to jump.

Police Chief Mike Chitwood arrived at the store and was able to talk Angle into surrendering.

Police fire investigators from several task forces, including Orlando and Sanford, went to the police department to speak to Angle.

Angle was taken to the Volusia County Jail where he went before a judge Sunday morning.

Angle is being held on no bond.
