SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. - Satellite Beach police searched the Atlantic Ocean on Wednesday morning after receiving reports that a man may have waded into the water in a bid to commit suicide.
The family of the man contacted the beachside police department, prompting a search that began about 6 p.m. Tuesday in an area from Hightower Beach Park north to Patrick Air Force Base's radar station.
Wednesday morning, the sheriff's helicopter, along with patrol officers on ATVs, canvassed the shoreline from Cocoa Beach south.
Police found the unidentified man's belongings and his vehicle near the Hightower Beach Park, across from Shearwater Drive, officials said.
The man, however, has not been located.
