Police search for suspect in deadly shooting

1 dead, 1 injured in shooting at University Oaks Plaza near Dean Road

ORLANDO, Fla. – One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting at an Orlando shopping plaza, deputies said.

The shooting occurred around 1:30 p.m. Friday in the University Oaks Plaza near the intersection of University Boulevard and Dean Road.

One of the victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Authorities said they found out about the incident about 1:45 p.m.

Investigators said they found multiple shell casings on the scene. A silver car was reported leaving the scene after the shooting, authorities said. Investigators said they are looking for the vehicle and an unknown number of shooters.

Authorities said they found a gun on the scene, but do not yet know it's involvement.

A photo of the scene showed Orange County sheriff's vehicles in the parking lot, with crime tape draped across the area.

Forensics and detectives were interviewing witnesses and looking for evidence, including surveillance video, authorities said.

Shops in the plaza include On Tap, Indian Market and Dungeon Tattoos.

William Rodriguez says he's not letting his son go to the plaza alone ever again.

"If he's hanging out in front of the barber shop and that happened, and you know one of the lose bullets could have hit him or my little brother," he said.

Kyle Bryan, who lives down the street from the plaza, said he is shocked that this could happen in such a busy area.

"What caused something like that to happen, especially middle of the day, up here?" said Bryan.
