Police seek armed robber seen in crystal-clear surveillance photo

Orlando Dollar General robbed at gunpoint

ORLANDO, Fla. – Police said new surveillance video shows a man robbing a store clerk at gunpoint, taking off with handfuls of cash.

Orlando police said the robbery happened around 8:45 p.m. Monday at the Dollar General on South Orange Blossom Trail, just south of the 408.

Surveillance video obtained by News 6 shows a black man in a tan hat and blue shirt pacing nervously at the front of the store. He appears to be waiting for a cashier.

Another camera angle shows the cashier pushing buttons on the register, and when the cash drawer opens, the man pulls out a gun, grabs cash out of the drawer and darts out of the building.

No one was injured in the incident.

Police investigators said the man ditched his tan hat and blue shirt as he ran away. They also said they believe he had some sort of getaway car because the Orlando police dogs could not pick up a scent.

Investigators are asking for help in identifying and locating the man. Anyone who sees him is advised not to approach him, but to call 911 or Crime Line at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
