Man pulled handgun out on clerk, police say

DELAND, Fla.- – DeLand police are searching for a man who they say robbed a 7-Eleven store early Friday morning.

Officers responded shortly before 3 a.m. to the 7-Eleven at 1043 W. New York Ave. after employees said a gunman armed with a black handgun demanded money.

The man then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen headed toward Spring Garden Avenue, police said.

Authorities set up a perimeter around the area and were assisted by the Volusia Sheriff’s Air One helicopter, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Police described the man as possibly white or Hispanic and say he was last seen wearing a semi-transparent hockey mask, dark blue hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
