Winter Springs teens steal jewelry, coins from elderly couple, police say

Teens face multiple charges, including violating probation

The Winter Springs Police Department arrested two teens accused of stealing jewelry and coins from a couple in Winter Springs.

Police said  Dylan Schneider and Austin Hall pried open the sliding glass door in the back of the home and ransacked the home on Tuesday.

The teens also removed a safe in the homeowners' master bedroom closet and caused damage to the floor of the home by dragging the safe across the floor, police said.

Schneider went to Cash America Pawn in Longwood to pawn two gold rings and a gold necklace that belonged to the victims, police said.

Schneider signed an agreement at the pawn shop declaring that the property was not stolen, rented or leased, police said.

Police said Schneider was paid $600 for the necklace and rings.

Meanwhile, Hall went to Value Pawn and Jewelry to attempt to pawn three pieces of jewelry stolen from the home, according to police. He also went to Numismatic Financial Corp. Inc to pawn 12 quarters and a 1-pound coin for cash, police said.

Hall signed an agreement at the pawn shop declaring that the property was not stolen ,rented or leased, police said. He was paid $25 for the coins, police said.

Both teens were arrested for violation of probation, burglary, larceny, damage of property, stolen property and fraud. Schneider’s bond for all charges was set at $22,500. Halll’s bond is $22,000.

Additionally, Schneider is also charged with possession of marijuana.
