ROCKLEDGE, Fla. -

The Republican candidate for Brevard County sheriff has scheduled a fundraiser in which participants can shoot suppressed weapons and sniper rifles.

According to the Wayne Ivey campaign Facebook page, a Firearms, Fun, & Food fundraiser will be held Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. in Rockledge.

There will be a "top shot" competition at the event, and the Facebook page touts the fact that participants can shoot with Ivey.  Guns provided at the event will include .22-caliber, .50-caliber, 9mm and .308s.

No children under the age of 15 will be able to attend because of safety reasons, the flyer states.

Admission costs $25 per person, and all money collected at the event will be considered a contribution to the Wayne Ivey for Sheriff campaign.

Ivey is a former Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent and has received the endorsement of retiring Brevard County Sheriff Jack Parker.

Ivey will face Todd Maddox, a lieutenant with the sheriff's office, in the August primary election.
