MITT ROMNEY SAYS HIS THOUGHTS ARE WITH THOSE IN ISAAC'S PATH. BUT WHEN ASKED WHAT EFFECT THE GATHERING STORM COULD HAVE ON THE R-N-C, HE SAID...
We've got a great convention ahead.
ISAAC COULD MAKE LANDFALL LATE TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY -- THE SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY OF HURRICANE KATRINA. A HURRICANE WARNING STRETCHES FROM THE FLORIDA PANHANDLE TO LOUISIANA.
REPUBLICANS ARE KEEPING THEIR OPTIONS OPEN.
Obviously, our first concern is for the people who are in the path of the storm. So, as we continue move ahead, we're planning for a Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday convention and we have a wait and see attitude to see what happens with the storm.
THOUGH THE EYE OF THE STORM IS PASSING WELL WEST OF TAMPA, FLORIDA'S GOVERNOR SAYS DELAYING THE CONVENTION BY ONE DAY WAS THE RIGHT CALL.
The most important thing we could be doing in this state is keeping everybody safe. We have 19 million people that live here, we've got all these visitors everyday in our state, we have all these delegates coming, we want everybody to be safe.
DESPITE THE DELAY, REPUBLICANS SAY THE PARTY'S BUSINESS WILL STILL GET DONE.
It is what it is right? So we're going to tell the Mitt Romney story, we're still going to prosecute the president, on what he promised, what he delivered, and why we think we need to save this country and put Mitt Romney in the White House.
MOST OF THE SPEAKERS SET TO TAKE THE CONVENTION STAGE TODAY HAVE BEEN RESCHEDULED FOR LATER IN THE WEEK.
--SUGGESTED QUESTIONS--
1. Wasn't the RNC also delayed four years ago because of a hurricane?
2. When is Isaac expected to become a hurricane? Will gain strength as it moves through the warm waters of the gulf.
3. Could the convention be extended through Friday?
