An inmate kidnapped a state corrections officer Wednesday morning while he was out with a work crew in Bartow on, according to CBS affiliate WTSP.
Authorities said the inmate took the officer hostage on Bob Phillips Road and fled in a city of Bartow work truck.

The search ended at 2 p.m. when the inmate was captured in St. Petersburg, according to WTSP.
“[The] suspect is in custody; there are no injuries to anyone,” the Polk County Sheriff’s Office tweeted.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies took the inmate into custody.
Authorities have not said how the inmate was able to take the officer hostage.
Department of Corrections spokesman Alberto Moscoso said that the incident in Polk County is under investigation.
