FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. -

Flagler Beach police said they shut down a portion of A1A Sunday after a suspicious box was found in front of a beachside motel.

Police said the one foot by one foot ammunition box was found by a passer by, who called 911.

Police said they responded and decided to shut down the road so they could investigate what was in the box.

St. John's County Sheriff's Office bomb squad responded to the area to investigate, officials said.

Police said the area around A1A and 12th Street was evacuated as a precaution and they hope to have the road open by early evening.
