Port Orange police arrest woman in crash seriously injuring 16-year-old

Good Samaritan's tip leads police to suspect vehicle

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A tip from a good Samaritan led Port Orange police to arrested a woman who they say was involved in a crash that left a 16-year-old with serious injuries.

Heather Leonard, 33, has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury in the Sunday accident.

The crash was reported in the 3600 block of Nova Road at around 10 p.m. The 16-year-old suffered multiple serious injuries and remains hospitalized in stable condition, police said.

Leonard was arrested Thursday after police received a tip about the suspect's vehicle.
