Possible sinkhole forces Fla. family from home
Family: Floor shifted inside one room
A family forced to evacuate their Tampa home believes a sinkhole could be responsible for the floor shifting inside the home.
Tampa police officers and firefighters could not confirm whether a sinkhole was growing under the home because crews deemed the home too dangerous to go inside.
However, officers did note the floor had shifted.
The family of five adults and two children told police an insurance agent told them within the past year that a sinkhole is under their home.
Neighbors have been told to be on alert and ready to evacuate if there is a sinkhole.
"He said ya'll need to be listening like if you hear any noises during the night or cracking or breaking glass or anything like that," Marietta Gregory, a neighbor, told Local 6 CBS affiliate WTSP.
The Red Cross has provided the family with shelter and vouchers for food and clothing.
