A state representative is pushing a proposal that would allow hard liquor sales at grocery stores across Florida.
According to WTSP.com, state Rep. Greg Steube is co-sponsoring a bill that would allow stores such as Walmart and Publix to sell the distilled spirits without having to go into a separate building.
For decades, hard liquor has been banned from being sold at stores across the state. Customers are only allowed to buy wine and beer in the main store. In order to purchase hard liquor, shoppers must go to a different store or building.
Steube told WTSP-TV that the ban does not make sense, and he wants it changed.
The bill is still making its way through committee. There's no word yet on when lawmakers will vote on the proposal.
