Noor Salman's attorneys file motion to dismiss charge one year after mass shooting

Salman pleaded not guilty Jan. 17 to federal charges​

ORLANDO, Fla. – The attorneys for the wife of the Pulse nightclub shooter, Noor Salman, have filed a legal motion claiming the charges filed against her were filed in the wrong district.

The document was filed exactly one year from the Pulse shooting on June 12, 2017.

Salman's representatives argue that her late husband Omar Mateen committed his crimes in Orlando or the federal middle district.

The charges of obstruction of justice stem from when Salman was interview by the FBI in the southern district in Port Saint Lucie or Fort Pierce.

Salman's attorney's state that she cannot be tried on the charge in the middle district.

Salman remains in a Central Florida jail since her federal court appearance on April 12.

Salman was arrested in California earlier this year on charges of helping her husband scout potential shooting targets before the shooting at the gay nightclub.

Salman was interviewed by the FBI after the shooting. Agents said they believe that Salman was not telling the truth about her husband's plans to carry out the shooting, court records showed.
