Pulse survivors upset with airing of Univision special

Univision special shows reenactment of Pulse Nightclub shooting

ORLANDO, Fla. – Kaliesha Andino is in shock that Univision would go ahead and air a special showing a reenactment of the Pulse Nightclub shooting, knowing it's going to upset those who were there that tragic night.

"It happened already. Why do people need to know what we went through? We can tell our story. Nobody has to act," she said.

Jose Diaz agreed with her. He was shot twice during the deadly massacre and is still recovering from his injuries.

"I didn't know. My aunt told me and when I saw it, they gave like a preview of what they were going to show and it hit me hard and I started to cry because I lived through that," Diaz said.

What makes the situation even worse for people like Orlando Torres is that one of his interviews was actually used in the show. He claims he never gave permission for them to do that.

"They're being insensitive to our feelings of not wanting to see something, to relive that tragic night," Torres said. "That hits us very emotionally and stressfully, and they're just doing it for the propaganda of making profit."

Univision stands by its decision to air the special and sent this statement to News 6:

"Univision has set out to create a report that is deeply respectful of the many people whose lives were impacted by this tragedy and, at the same time, is faithful to the facts underlying this horrible crime."

Torres believes Univision should apologize for what it has done and donate its profits to charities that support the survivors and victims' family members.

The Pulse Nightclub owner was also upset with the situation and demanded any logo of the club's be removed from the show. As of Saturday, Univision had not responded to that request.
