Thousands of Orlando United shirts sold

People searching to buy more

ORLANDO, Fla. – The search is on to find an Orlando United shirt after they were sold out within minutes on Thursday.

People roamed Wall Street Plaza all day on Friday, trying to get their hands on one.

"We were the first to make that purchase," Brian Cartrette said.

If you don't already have one of the shirts, your search to find one may leave you empty-handed.

"It's frustrating but you know, it's the cause and it's what you want to do," Carol Barnes said.

Barnes said it was her second day trying to find the shirt and it was very important to get one.

"I know someone that died and his girlfriend who's still in the hospital. We want to wear them to the funeral tomorrow," Barnes said.

"We're just trying to keep up with the demand to turn it around and to get so many done in such a short amount of time has been a real struggle," said Teresa Tatlonghari, vice president of marketing at Orlando City Soccer Club.

Tatlonghari said it took hours to come up with the perfect slogan and design, and the team was happily surprised that thousands have already been sold.

"It's just a representation of the city. The people of our great city want to do something and everybody knows there's not a lot you can do, but this is a way that you know that what you're doing will go back to the right causes," Tatlonghari said.

All proceeds will go toward the One Orlando Fund.
