Puppy saves owner's life, scares off 2 gunmen after home invasion

62-year-old woman says gunmen pulled her by hair

PALM BAY, Fla. – A Palm Bay woman says her puppy "Petey" scared off two gunman and saved her life.

Barbara Boos, 62, said late Sunday night, two gunman stormed through her front door on Southeast Wildcat Avenue, pulled her by the hair and threw her to the floor.

"I started yelling. He was pulling my hair so hard," said Boos. "He said 'I'm going to kill you if you don't tell me. Give me your money. Where's your money?'"

Boos said her 8-month-old Jack Russell terrier, Petey, came to the rescue, running from the other side of the house.

"He was jumping up and down on that guy's face," said Boos. "I don't know if he was trying to bite his face."

Petey went for one of the crook's ankles, and just like that, the two gunmen ran away.

Palm Bay police said they are still searching for the suspects.

Boos said she did not get a good look at their faces, which were covered with masks. She described the intruders as about 6 feet tall, one skinny, and the other heavy.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
