A pro-marijuana legislation group plans to launch a high-profile advertising campaign at a major NASCAR event this weekend, according to USA Today.
Marijuana Policy Project, the nation's largest pro-marijuana legislation advocacy group has purchased space to air an advertisement claiming marijuana is less harmful than alcohol dozens of times on a giant video screen at the entrance to the Brickyard 500 in Indianapolis.

The video is made to look and sound like a beer ad, but the narrator says that, unlike beer, marijuana has "no calories," "no hangovers" and "it's not linked to violence or reckless behavior." It ends with the tagline, "Less harmful than alcohol, and time to treat it that way."
During the entirety of the event, about 600,000 fans are expected to attend the race, giving the ad some major exposure.
The ad is scheduled to run 72 times during the weekend.
NASCAR has no affiliation with the Marijuana Policy Project but has several alcohol-related sponsors.
