Report: Redbox offers concert tickets at select kiosks

Rental company to take on Ticketmaster in Philadelphia, Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – Redbox, the automated DVD rental outside of grocery stores, drug stores and Walmarts across the country, is taking on Ticketmaster with offering concert tickets for sale at its kiosks.

The Los Angeles Times reports Redbox launched the ticketing business on Wednesday in Philadelphia, for its first test market. Los Angeles will be its second market and will offer the ticketing business in 2013.

The operator of more than 38,000 kiosks in stores will charge a service fee of $1 per ticket, compared to the $10-$15 charge from Ticketmaster on top of the ticket's value. Customers can buy the tickets from the kiosks or online and then print them out, according to the article.
