Report: Swinger's club may open in Merritt Island

'Minglers Social Club' seeking alcohol permit for former bank building

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - A membership-only swingers club for consenting adults may open inside the old Riverside Bank building off State Road 520, according to Local 6 news partner Florida Today
A company is seeking an alcohol permit for a future "private social club" and "banquet hall," according to Assistant County Attorney Christine Lepore.

The reported name: Minglers Social Club. The building owner, Ralph Perrone, said the club would open Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Adults would enter using membership cards.
"If it's a full-fledged swingers club, we wouldn't be too excited about that", said Greg Lugar, executive director of the Merritt Island Redevelopment Agency. "It's not a good location for anything like that, because it's got two of our best family restaurants - Olive Garden and Red Lobster - that abut next to it."
But Perrone disagrees. He said his tenant would generate tax revenue at a building that has sat vacant the past three years.
"It's not a strip club. It's not adult entertainment. It's not Wiggles. We've got Wiggles right on (State Road) 520, right at the entrance to Merritt Island," Perrone said.
