BELLE ISLE, Fla. – Two men were shot and killed Wednesday morning in Belle Isle, according to Orange County sheriff's deputies.
The double fatal shooting was reported around 5 a.m. on Hansel Avenue near Oak Ridge Road.
Deputies said a Belle Isle police officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle and found the victims, who were shot multiple times.
The names of the men and details about the shooter have not been released.
Deputies said it appears the victims tried to drive for help before their vehicle was located by the officer.
Pine Castle Elementary and Cornerstone Charter Academy are located nearby. The principal at Cornerstone Charter Academy said tardy students will be excused Wednesday morning because of the incident.
Northbound traffic on Hansel Avenue is being routed onto Wallace Street, causing a major backup in the area.
