Republicans pick new candidate for Marion County sheriff race

Party says Chris Blair will replace Dan Kuhn

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Members of the Republican Executive Committee announced they have selected Chris Blair as the party's new sheriff candidate in Marion County.

Blair replaces Dan Kuhn, who dropped out of the race following allegations of an extramarital affair and internal department policy violations.

Blair and nine other candidates packed Republican headquarters Wednesday to try to win the party's favor.

Blair was the most popular choice, receiving 34 of the committee's 56 votes.

Blair will face Constitution Party candidate Bernie DeCastro in the election next month.

People can still cast their vote for Kuhn because ballots were sent out before he dropped out of the race.
