Reward increased to $15,000 in string of Central Florida hotel robberies
About a dozen businesses robbed in Orlando area
A reward for information leading to an arrest in a string of recent hotel and other robberies throughout Central Florida has been upped to $15,000.
"Thanks to our partners at the Bureau of Tobacco and Firearms, an extra $5,000 has been added to the Crimeline reward," the Orange County Sheriff's Office said on Thursday.
Several Central Florida law enforcement agencies continue to investigate about a dozen armed robberies that have occurred since December at hotels and restaurants in Orange, Polk and Seminole counties.
The assailants range from two to three gunmen who wear black or dark clothing and masks.
In each case, the culprits enter the business, jump the counter and demand money. The bandits may be driving a black Chevrolet Impala or other popular rental vehicle models.
Anyone with information about the robberies is urged to call Crimeline. All callers can remain anonymous, and if information leads to an arrest, tipsters can be eligible for a cash reward of up to $15,000.
