Rifle stolen from Deltona man's trunk

Deputies say bushmaster AR-15 rifle stolen from car

DELTONA, Fla. – Deputies say there has been a string of car burglaries in Deltona, including a rifle that was stolen from a man's truck.

Nicole Lee of Deltona said she is not letting her daughter play outside.

"There's a fully loaded gun going around and what are we going to do," said Lee. "No one could do anything until they're found."

According to Volusia County Sheriff's deputies, a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle was stolen from the trunk of a neighbor's car on Hayward Avenue.

Steve Brandhuber said someone also rummaged through his car, parked in his driveway, but he's more worried about the gun stolen from a neighbor.

"I worry about my wife when I'm not here," said Branhuber.

Lee told Local 6 her neighbor did spot the two burglars in action and called 911, but he didn't get a good look at their faces.

"They had hoodies on, hoodie jackets. That's all he could see," said Lee.
