Road reopens after 7-acre brush fire in Port Orange

Brush fire jumped over CR 415

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A brush fire in Port Orange caused a road to shut down after the fire jumped the roadway Tuesday afternoon.

The brush fire, which had covered about 7 acres as of 8:30 p.m., jumped over Tomoka Farms Road, or County Road 415, and prompted the closure of the road at Town West Boulevard.

Authorities said no homes were damaged or in danger after the brush fire began around 4 p.m. Tuesday.

As of 8:45 p.m. there were only two firetrucks left at the scene and crews said they would be wrapping up shortly.

Local 6 news helicopter Sky 6 flew over the scene as crews battled the blaze.
