Road sign misspells 'Florida' -- twice

FDOT says Arkansas company will create new sign

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was almost another case of Flori-duh.

The Florida Department of Transportation says an Arkansas company is to blame for the misspelling of the word "Florida" -- twice -- on a roadway sign that was ready to be installed.

The sign was spotted in the grass near J. Turner Butler Boulevard and Interstate 95 in Jacksonville, and it reads, "Univ of North Flordia" and "Flordia State College South Campus."

FDOT told Local 6 News in an email that the mistake was found "during a regular inspection process required prior to the erecting of the sign."

An FDOT spokesman said the company in Arkansas will create a new sign and taxpayers will not have to foot the bill.
