Seminole County day care worker arrested on lewd, lascivious molestation charges
4-year-old says Legacy Academy worker touched her inappropriately, according to deputies
A day care worker was denied bond Tuesday after being arrested on charges of lewd conduct with a girl at the facility.
Harry Shane Rubin, 40, of Osteen, was arrested Monday after a girl told her mother about the activity at Legacy Academy in Lake Mary.
Seminole County sheriff's investigators say the girl claimed on Feb. 6 that Rubin, known as Mr. Shane at the daycare center, "always asked her to touch his private parts and she doesn't want to do it anymore."
She told investigators Rubin asked to see her private parts and when she refused to do so, he bribed her with candy.
Investigators say surveillance video obtained from the day care center show Rubin was the only instructor in the classroom during naptime.
When confronted by sheriff's deputies, Rubin said the little girl liked to hug him a lot and rub his belly. He said she may have rubbed his private parts by accident.
He also claimed the girl had a problem soiling her pants, and he asked her on many occasions whether she was wearing underwear.
He was arrested by deputies after he admitted that he drove to the interview on a suspended license, according to officials. Investigators told Local 6 that his license was indefinitely suspended in 2012.
Investigators also said they don't believe there are any more victims, but they would like to hear from parents whose children they think could have been victimized.
Parents said they were upset Legacy Academy hadn't informed them of what happened before Local 6 did. They said teachers inside the school said they had no idea anything like this had happened.
