DeBARY, Fla. – A Sanford Middle School teacher has been arrested on child pornography charges on Monday, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
66-year-old James Stevens is a competition math coach and gifted math teacher for 6th, 7th and 8th grades at Sanford Middle School.
Stevens was arrested at his DeBary home on eight counts of child pornography.
The arrest was made as part of the FDLE Cyber Taskforce. FDLE says they have been investigating Stevens for several days and found that he had been looking at pictures of children ages 8-9 years old.
Authorities are investigating if Stevens' students could be victims.
Seminole County Public Schools suspended Stevens on Monday, effective immediately. Stevens has been employed by SCPS and Sanford Middle School since July, 2003.
