Sanford police arrest 2 in cold case murder; 1 sought

Anthony Lamar Barnes, Oljuwan Eugene Perry arrested in murder

SANFORD, Fla. – Sanford police made two arrests in a murder case that had gone cold, but there's still a third person of interest on the run.

Even the family of the victim, Marcus Killingsworth, worried the case might never have been solved, but things finally changed when police started getting the largest number of Crimeline tips they had ever had.

Vernita Green said she can finally begin to grieve after her son was killed while at a friend's house March 27.

Killingsworth's twin sister said he died when men in masks walked up, demanded cash and started shooting.

"I'm asking them, 'Why? Why did you brutally murder my brother?' My brother was shot eight times," said Marcia Killingsworth.

The victim was a father and recently started his own lawn business. Police said he was targeted, and his family thinks his killers thought he had money. Surveillance video, along with tips, helped police find Anthony Lamar Barnes and Oljuwan Eugene Perry, both men who Green mom thought were her son's friends.

"That's what hurt me so bad, because we know these guys," said Green. "I've known these guys from babies."

But now police need more help catching the third person responsible. Until that suspect is found, this family says a dangerous man will run free.

"There's no way that we can be comfortable when there's still someone else out there," said Marcia.

Police have not released a motive or any details about the arrest of the two suspects because their biggest concern is finding that third person.
